Psychology

At St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne (SVHM), our psychologists work with consumers, patients, families, and other staff to assist with the psychological, emotional, and behavioural challenges experienced by people who access our healthcare service.
Psychologists use evidence-based and person-centred frameworks to enhance the psychological health of people within our care. We provide psychological information, assessment, collaborative formulation, treatment, and prevention strategies as part of multidisciplinary services.

Our Psychologists
The SVHM Psychology workforce includes approximately 50 psychologists working across various services and campuses in the inner eastern and northern parts of Melbourne. Our psychologists have completed at least 6 years of full time study. Most of our psychologists have advanced training in clinical psychology or clinical neuropsychology. All psychologists are required to maintain registration with the Australian Health Practitioner’s Registration Authority (AHPRA) and undertake ongoing professional development to maintain competence within their area of practice. We also have provisional psychologists and clinical registrars completing parts of their education and training across the hospital.
