Complex Disability Services

There are three Complex Disability Services;

  • Intrathecal Baclofen Clinic
  • Polio Services Victoria
  • Young Adult Complex Disability Service

 All three services accept state wide referral. A GP or specialist letter of referral is required to see the rehabilitation physician within these teams.

Polio Services Victoria

Polio Services Victoria (PSV) was established by the Victorian Government in early 1998 to provide ongoing expertise and support for people who have had polio.

Young Adult Complex Disability Services

This is a state-wide service which assists young people with a complex developmental disability - such as cerebral palsy - to transition to adult health care from children’s services.

Intrathecal Baclofen Clinic

Baclofen is a muscle relaxant drug used to decrease spasticity. Baclofen can be taken orally or when the side effects of increasing oral dosage become a concern, it may be delivered into the spinal fluid (intrathecally) via a surgically implanted pump and catheter.
