Speech Pathologists assess and manage people who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties.

At St Vincent's, we work with people across the continuum of care - from the acute setting through to the community. We also co-ordinate the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program which aims to improve access to health care for people with a hearing impairment. Our Speech Pathologists are also involved in education, research and student training.

Speech Pathology hours of operation: 8.00am – 4.30pm weekdays.
Weekend/Public Holiday Speech Pathology service is available at St. Vincent’s Hospital only: 9am – 1pm.

Outpatient services

Speech Pathology Voice and Swallow Outpatient Clinic provides diagnostic assessment and short-term management of dysphonia (voice), dysphagia (swallow) and airway disorders. Sessions in clinic or via telehealth available. Outpatient Videofluoroscopy (VFSS) and Fibre-optic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) are available where required. Onward referral of patients requiring longer-term management or monitoring.

Eligibility: Patients referred must be linked in with St. Vincent’s Public Hospital Specialist Clinics e.g. Neurology/Respiratory/Ear, Nose and Throat. No catchment areas apply.
