Disability Liaison Officer

disability-liaison-officerSt Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne has a dedicated Disability Liaison Officer. The role assists people with disability, their families and carers to access services at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne.

The Disability Liaison Officer can support you and your healthcare team to access safe, accessible and more inclusive care during your hospital stay and when attending outpatient appointments. They can provide you with any information you need, including connecting you with other health and human services.

The role has a strong focus on making sure that you can access COVID-19 screening and treatment easily.

Our services

The Disability Liaison Officer:

  • Supports people with disability to access COVID-19 assessment and treatment
  • Supports people with disability to access the health services they require
  • Provides disability-specific advice and support to the hospital
  • Identifies and reduces barriers to health service accessibility for people with disability

COVID-19 Call to Test

If you have COVID-19 symptoms and cannot leave home due to disability, or the need to care for others, then you can get tested at home. View information about the Call to Test service in Easy English.

To access the Call-to-Test service, call the Victorian COVID-19 hotline on 1800 675 398 and select option 9.

Additional COVID-19 Resources for People with Disability

Need information about COVID-19, COVID-19 vaccines or help with the COVIDSafe app, call the National COVID Helpline 1800 020 080. This number operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The Disability Information Helpline is for people with disability, their families and carers who have a question about COVID-19, or need help because things have changed. Call 1800 643 787 Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, and Saturday to Sunday 9am to 7pm. If you are deaf, or have a hearing or speech impairment, you can also call the National Relay Service on 133 677
