St Vincent’s Clinical School 110th Anniversary

In 1910, St Vincent’s Clinical School was founded by Mother Mary Berchmans Daly with The University of Melbourne. From humble beginnings, St Vincent’s is now one of 7 clinical schools and in 2020 celebrates its 110th anniversary.

In 2020, the Clinical School and the hospital were ready for a memorable year of celebrations including a grand IPS display and the perennial favourite the special Friday sausage sizzle served by medical students of the Clinical School.

COVID 19 has not stopped the spirit and desire to celebrate this milestone the St Vincent’s way. Like our student programs we have gone online and I hope you will take a few minutes to look at the rich history of the clinical school. For those who are alumni of the clinical school we have the year photos from 1960 and I hope you enjoy your walk down memory lane.

Education and the pursuit of high standards and professionalism are values that is instilled in our programs. In its 110th year, we are proud of the support of hospital executive, our teachers and ward staff that teach our students. 21st Century medical education in a COVID 19 pandemic year has been a circuit breaker into how we deliver programs. Like in 1919 with the Spanish Flu, our medical students will stand strong, resilient ready to learn and be our next generation of doctors.
