There will be study days throughout the year as part of the Pathway to Specialty Practice program including a deteriorating patient focused study day.
The topics have a strong clinical focus and aim to incorporate as many practical elements as possible to assist with the transfer and application of learning back to the clinical settings. Throughout the year all participants will also gain valuable experience in our state of the art Human Simulator Centre.
You are also welcome to join any of our other study days, courses or programs within the hospital or enroll in a professional development activity offered externally.
You will be provided with education, frameworks and support to develop your own reflective style.
Each specialty stream has local clinical hurdles for you to complete during your rotations. These clinical hurdles are to support in the development of your knowledge and understanding of the clinical areas within your specific stream.
St Vincent’s state of the art human simulator is located within our Education Centre at our Fitzroy campus on which is fully equipped with the latest multimedia and virtual training technology. We have two functional SIM rooms. Our mannequins provide staff with the opportunity to expand their skills in a safe learning environment. PSP participants will participate in deteriorating patient simulations as part of their program relevant to their specialty area.
Upon successful completion of the PSP, SVHM aligns with a variety of university providers to deliver a broad range of postgraduate clinical nursing programs with highly skilled postgraduate education teams. Successful PSP graduates are encouraged to apply for postgraduate study in their chosen specialty
