Financial Assistance

Financial assistance is available to support St Vincent’s nurses pursuing Graduate Certificate and Diploma nursing courses and Masters level that will lead to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.

Enrolments in postgraduate programs that are not listed under 'Streams we offer' are not eligible for financial support offered by St Vincent's Education & Learning.

For information about Mental Health Postgraduate scholarships, please refer to the guidelines in the heading under Mental Health or contact the stream educator.

See below options for financial assistance during postgraduate study. If you are completing your postgraduate studies in a part time mode you can apply for financial support in the year of completion.

 

St Vincent's Postgraduate Scholarships

Graduate Certificate /Diploma

There are 2 types of scholarships available to St Vincent’s staff undertaking Postgraduate study at Graduate Certificate / Diploma level.

  1. Graduate Nurse Association Scholarships (GNA) - Scholarships will be offered in 2020 (total $10,000)  and will be allocated to successful applicants.

  2. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Scholarships- Scholarships will be offered in 2020 (total $68,000) to staff undertaking Postgraduate study.

In order to be considered for the DHHS scholarships please review the Postgraduate Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship program application guidelines 2018 - 2019 and refer to the eligibility criteria.

You will only need to submit a single application as that will make you eligible for both scholarships on offer (GNA and DHHS)

Applications for 2020 Scholarships will open on Monday 27th January 2020 and close at 1600,Thursday 6th February, 2020.

Upon receipt of your application Education and Learning will send you an email to acknowledge and confirm that your application has been received.

Masters in Nursing /Nurse Practitioner Scholarship

Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Scholarships - Scholarships will be offered to candidates undertaking Postgraduate study at Masters of Nursing level that will lead to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.

Applications for scholarships will open on Monday 27th January 2020 and close 1600, Thursday 6th February 2020.

In order to be considered for a DHHS scholarship please review the Postgraduate Nursing and Midwifery Scholarship program application guidelines 2018 - 2019 and refer to the eligibility criteria.

St Vincent’s Postgraduate Financial Reimbursement

Financial support is available to all postgraduate students employed by St Vincent’s Hospital (excluding mental health students) on completion of their approved postgraduate course.

The amount of financial support for 2020 is $1,500 for a postgraduate certificate and $3,000 for a postgraduate diploma.

How to apply for reimbursement

Once your application for postgraduate study has been approved by Education and Learning an agreement letter will be emailed to you.  The letter will outline the terms and conditions for financial reimbursement and must be signed and returned by the due date. 

Agreements returned after this date will not be eligible for financial reimbursement.
