Financial Assistance

Financial assistance via scholarship is available to support St Vincent’s nurses pursuing Graduate Certificate and Diploma nursing courses and Masters level that will lead to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner to apply for. 

For information about Mental Health Postgraduate scholarships, please refer to the guidelines in the heading under Mental Health or contact the stream educator.

See below options for financial assistance during postgraduate study. If you are completing your postgraduate studies in a part time mode you can apply for financial support in the year of completion.

 

Scholarships 2024 - Internal 

There are 3 types of scholarships available to St Vincent’s staff undertaking Postgraduate study in 2024.

St Vincent's Nursing Alumni Scholarship - APPLY NOW

About the Alumni: Established in 1923 by Ida O’Dwyer, the St Vincent’s Nursing Alumni provides support and fosters connections among both current and past nurses who have contributed to St Vincent’s over the decades. This scholarship aims to honour this tradition by supporting and connecting our nursing staff.

Value: $1,500 each
Number of Scholarships: 5
Eligibility: Open to current nursing staff enrolled in Postgraduate studies (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, or Master’s level) in 2024.

Bank First Nursing Scholarships

About Bank First: Founded in 1972 by a group of educators, Bank First is dedicated to supporting community-focused professionals. They continue to uphold values of care and compassion, with a mission to financially empower educators and healthcare professionals.

Value: $3,000 each
Number of Scholarships: 5
Eligibility: Open to current nursing staff enrolled in Postgraduate Nursing studies (Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, or Master’s level) in 2024.

Application Requirements:
You must have commenced Postgraduate Nursing studies in 2024.
You must not have received an Alumni, Bank First, or Department of Health scholarship in 2023 or 2024.
You must agree to work at St Vincent’s in the area of your Postgraduate study for 12 months beyond the completion of your studies.

Department of Health Scholarships - now closed

In 2024 Scholarships were also available to all nursing staff undertaking Postgraduate study at Graduate Certificate / Diploma and Masters level to apply for. Priority areas per the Department of Health included, Intensive Care, Emergency, Aged Care and Cancer streams. All other individuals that met the Departments eligibility criteria as per the guidelines could also apply. 

Scholarships 2024 - External 

Scholarships are available to St Vincent’s staff undertaking Postgraduate study in 2024 from external parties. These include ANMF, Australian College of Nursing, Universities.

Feel free to source external scholarships that you are eligible to apply for.

Masters in Nursing / Nurse Practitioner Scholarship

Department of Health - Scholarships will be offered to candidates undertaking Postgraduate study at Masters of Nursing level that will lead to endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
