Residents (HMO2/HMO3)

St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne recognises the specific learning needs of Junior Medical Staff entering their Residency training years. Whether employed in a surgical, general, critical care or BPT training stream, Residents have the opportunity for developing leadership skills and clinical knowledge (including confidence in staffing after hours). 

Pre-Vocational Education Program

The Pre-Vocational Education Program, which is open to all Pre-Vocational staff from Intern to Unaccredited Registrar, is coordinated by the Medical Education Team. Sessions are held fortnightly, in a hybrid capacity to allow both in-person and online attendance.  

Pre-SET Residents Program

This program is coordinated by the Pre-SET society, and includes a number of lecture and practical workshop sessions, throughout the year. Please follow the link to the Pre-SET Surgical Society for more information.  

Basic Physician Training Lectures and Tutorials

SVHM provides a well- supported environment for BPTs undertaking the RACP PREP program, and is accredited as a level 3 hospital by RACP. As part of the Physician Readiness for Expert Practice (PREP) program, all physician trainees have a Professional Development Supervisor and Educational Supervisor.  All trainees sitting the clinical exam have a Consultant mentor with whom they meet with weekly and present long cases.
