How to apply

Pathway to Specialty Practice 

To apply for the Pathway to Specialty Practice program you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA without conditions.
  • Applicants must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency.
  •  Degree in General Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Successful completion of a Graduate Nurse Program (or equivalent), by commencement of the program OR a minimum of 12-months acute nursing care experience.
  • Complete the online application for St Vincent’s Specialty to Pathway Program via Workday.

Transition to Specialty Practice 

To apply for the Transition to Specialty Practice program you will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA without conditions.
  • Applicants must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency.
  • Degree in General Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
  • Successful completion of a Graduate Nurse Program (or equivalent), in addition to at least 2 years acute nursing experience.
  • Applicants must have recent clinical experience in a high dependency (HDU) or critical care setting.
  • Complete the online application for St Vincent’s Transition to Speciality Practice Program via Workday.

Step 1 – Online application

The following documents are to be uploaded:

  • Cover letter, addressed Attention to: Specialist Practice Education Coordinator, outlining why you wish participate in the program at St Vincent’s (maximum of 1 page).
  • Curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages).
  • Passport photo.

Additional information required:

  • Name and details of two professional referees. Ensure you inform your referee of your intention to list them.
  • Indicate your stream preference when completing your application through the Workday platform. Please also indicate this in your cover letter.

Step 2 - Interview

  • You will receive an email from SVHM if shortlisted for interview.
  • Interviews will be undertaken virtually via Microsoft Teams.
