From late-September, SVHM is delivering podiatry and occupational therapy clinics at YDMH, bringing clinical care closer to home for local residents. Additional services, including respiratory, cardiology and dermatology clinics, will be progressively introduced over the coming months, with all services expected to commence before the end of the year. The services will be delivered by senior clinicians from SVHM working alongside local clinicians at YDMH, ensuring continuity of care across the two organisations and reducing the need for patients to travel to Melbourne for their care. Elizabeth Sinclair, Chief Executive Officer of Yea District Memorial Hospital, said the collaboration represents an important milestone for the organisation and the local community. "This partnership is a significant step forward for healthcare in Yea and the surrounding communities. By partnering with St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, we can expand the range of clinical services available locally and make it easier for our patients to access the care they need. "Importantly, this collaboration builds on the strengths of both organisations and ensures our community can benefit from greater access to specialist expertise while continuing to receive care in a familiar local setting." Nicole Tweddle, Chief Executive of St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, said the partnership demonstrates SVHM's commitment to supporting regional and rural healthcare services. “St Vincent’s is committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to people wherever they live. We’re proud to partner with Yea District Memorial Hospital to provide better access to allied health and specialist medical care for people in the Murrindindi region and more connected care across our health services," she said. “We know travelling to hospital can be challenging for patients and families, so this partnership will make it easier for people in the region to access more care closer to home.” The partnership aligns with the objectives of the East Metro and Murrindindi Local Health Service Network, supporting greater collaboration between metropolitan and regional health services and improving access to care for patients. It marks the beginning of a broader collaboration between SVHM and YDMH, focused on improving access to specialist services, strengthening clinical capability and ensuring rural communities can access high-quality healthcare closer to home.
