Senior Dual Diagnosis Clinician

Simon is a senior dual diagnosis clinician with the Nexus Dual Diagnosis Service, St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne commencing in 2010. Simon has worked in various settings including community based mental health, crisis services, Aboriginal and community health and local government amongst others. He has a keen interest in developing practical resources for health and welfare staff, consumers and carers. In 2011 he developed the initial concept and prototype of the Reasons for Use Package which he developed further with colleague Kevan Myers. In November 2016 he won a commendation from Tandem, the peak body for families and carers of people experiencing mental ill health, for his work on the Carers Can Ask resource which aims to assist carers in having more meaningful conversations with service providers. He is also the instigator and chairperson of the North East Dual Diagnosis Youth network (NEDDY) which aims to develop best practice integrated care for young people who have dual diagnosis challenges. More recently he has been building the evidence base for the Before During After (BDA) package which contains a new harm reduction tool.
