The Research Governance Unit facilitates the framework through which St Vincent’s Hospital is accountable for the scientific quality, ethical acceptability, legal responsibility and safety of the research conducted under our auspices. Good research governance is an essential component for the conduction of responsible research, promotes best practice and accountability and reduces adverse incidents, thus reducing the likelihood of poor performance and research misconduct. Research governance applies to all individuals involved in research, and is about responsibility and managing risk.
