Animal Ethics Committee  

All amendments (both minor changes and modifications) must be reviewed by the Animal Ethics Commitee.

Minor Change 

A minor change must not raise any ethical issues. Examples of a minor change include: 

• a different animal supplier
• a different strain (unless a GBNML is required)
• substitution of one agent with a similar agent

A minor change does not include additional animal numbers. Minor changes will be expedited by the AEC Executive out of session, and therefore do not require a submission to the full committee.

Modifications

A modification is a significant change including an increase in the number of animals (up to 20 per cent extra), an additional experimental procedure, or the collection of additional data.

Modifications must be submitted to the AEC for review and approval by the submission closing date:

Conducting a procedure at another site (Fieldwork): 

If you wish to conduct a procedure at another site (eg: imaging) you are required to complete a Fieldwork notification form.

Changing a Member of a Research Team:

If you wish to change a member of the research team (either add or remove) you must notify the Animal Ethics Committee as soon as possible.
