Animal Ethics Committee  

A condition for ongoing approval of an AEC Protocol involves the notification of adverse incidents to the AEC.

 

Some examples of adverse incidents are:

 

  • Unexpected death of an animal/group of animals
  • Unexpected welfare deterioration either during or post procedure including diarrhoea, vomiting, respiratory issues, collapse, abdominal swelling, rapid weight loss or neurological symptoms
  • Adverse effects in a larger number of animals than was expected
  • Unforeseen levels of pain or distress

 

To report an adverse event, please complete and submit the following notifcation form:

All events must be reported to the facility Vet and the Facility Manager as soon as possible.
Adverse incidents must also be reported to the AEC using the Adverse Incident or Unexpected Event Report Form within 72 hours of the event.
