Background
The Research Endowment Fund (REF) is an annual competitive financial grant round to support research activity of high quality across the St Vincent’s Hospital (Melbourne) campuses.
The REF and the REF Committee are guided by the St Vincent's Director of Research and managed by its Research Facilitation Unit.
Eligibility
Funding is available to researchers from St Vincent's and affiliated campuses (including scientists, nurses, research nurses, allied health professionals and/or medical clinicians) for research projects undertaken within hospital departments and/or institutes on the St Vincent's Fitzroy and affiliated campuses, including sites located at a St Vincent's campus (for example Australian Catholic University, O’Brien Institute, Bionics Institute, St Vincent’s Centre for Nursing Research, St Vincent’s Institute, St Vincent’s & Mercy Private Hospital and The University of Melbourne’s Departments of Medicine, Surgery and Psychiatry).

PROGRESS REPORTS
Successful applicants are required to report on their research activity to describe the work performed, funds spent, publications arising as a result and details of any talks, collaborations, further grants etc.
A Progress or Final Report is due within 12 months after the funding period. For example, if you received REF funding commencing in 2011, you are required to provide a Report by December 2012.
Progress Reports
A progress report is required if the project is not yet complete. Please provide a final report once the project is complete.
Final Report
A final report is required from all successful REF recipients once the project is complete.
