Our services

Palliative care

Palliative care is the active total care of people whose disease is not responsive to curative treatment. Care is delivered by coordinated medical, nursing and allied health services that are provided, where possible, in the environment of the person's choice. Control of pain, of other symptoms and of psychological, emotional and spiritual problems is paramount.

The goal of palliative care is achievement of the best possible quality of life for patients, and for their families and friends. Many aspects of palliative care are also applicable earlier in the course of the illness in conjunction with treatment aimed at cure.

Aged care

The Caritas Christi Aged Care Unit provides assessment and treatment of conditions associated with ageing. The Unit aims to help achieve maximum independence and quality of life. It also provides a short-term home-based service which assists people to manage better in their own homes.

A 4 day per week Day Centre/Planned Activity Group runs from the Caritas site in Kew, providing social interaction, activities and family respite for frail, aged persons living in the community.

Home care

Eastern Palliative Care works closely with Caritas Christi in ensuring continuity of care between inpatient care and the home setting. Patients can be referred from Caritas Christi Hospice, other hospitals, family and friends. Referrals can be made by phoning Eastern Palliative Care.
