POST Program fellowships and scholarships
Fellowships in various psychiatric specialties are available through the POST Program for psychiatrists working in the Asia-Pacific countries. There are quarterly intakes each year for the training courses (February, May, August and November). The placements are arranged individually within each term. There is a limited number of scholarships for each intake depending on the type of course and available funding.
For details about the scholarship and application, please contact the Asia-Pacific country Janssen-Cilag offices. The scholarship covers travel, accommodation, training and support costs of the placement in Melbourne, Australia. Applications are processed jointly by the POST Program and the Janssen-Cilag country offices, and all applications need to be submitted by the closing dates of each term intake.
RANZCP Supplementary Training Scholarships to the POST Program
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Supplementary Training Scholarships to the POST Program offer a 1-2 month clinical fellowship training program to psychiatrists from low-resourced countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
Part-scholarships will be provided by the RANZCP as a contribution to the practice of psychiatry in the region and to strengthen the linkages and collaboration between College Fellows and psychiatrists working in different psychiatric services in the region.
These scholarships are limited and are available only to psychiatrists from low-resource countries. For application details and more information, please contact the POST Program administration on firstname.lastname@example.org
Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships (ALAF)
In 2009, Asia Australia Mental Health and the POST program were granted six scholarships with the Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) Fellowships. These Fellowships fall under the Australia Awards initiative which was announced by the Prime Minister in November 2009.
The ALA Fellowships program aims to develop leadership, address priority regional issues and build partnerships and linkages with developing countries. More information can be found at www.ausaid.gov.au/scholar/alafellow.cfm.
It is with great pleasure that Asia Australia Mental Health and the POST program were able to work with health professionals through AusAID’s support. The funding provided the opportunity for individuals to enhance leadership in Community Mental Health in the Asia Pacific. More information about these scholarships can be found at Australian Leadership Awards Fellowships.
