St Vincent’s Archives collects and preserves records and artefacts that tell the story of St Vincent’s, from its foundation in 1893 to the present day.


Highlights of the collection include photographs and publicity material, annual reports, papers of hospital historians, and records from the Nurses’ Training School.

Please note that the Archives holds the hospital’s earliest medical records but most medical records are managed by the Health Information Services department. Enquiries regarding access to medical records should be directed to the Freedom of Information Officer or Health Information Managers by calling (03) 9288 2775 (Fitzroy campus), (03) 9816 0444 (St George’s) and (03) 9853 2344 (Caritas).
