About us 

St Vincent’s is a tertiary public healthcare service. We provide a range of services, including acute medical and surgical services, emergency and critical care, aged care, diagnostics, rehabilitation, allied health, mental health, palliative care and residential care. We work with a vast network of collaborative partners to deliver high quality treatment, teaching, education and research. We have more than 5,000 staff and 880 beds in daily use across our services.

For 120 years, St Vincent’s has been providing the highest standards of care driven by our concern for others, especially those in need. Our mission and the values of compassion, justice, integrity and excellence permeate every aspect of our work.

We excel across a broad spectrum from neurosurgery and surgical oncology to aged psychiatry and Aboriginal health.

Excellence in healthcare

In 2011-12 St Vincent’s had 56,260 separations and 261,271 bed days. We provided around 500,000 occasions of service to patients through our emergency department, specialist clinics and other services.

We operate across 15 locations in metropolitan Melbourne including St George's Health Service and Caritas Christi Hospice in Kew and our main campus in Fitzroy.
