The aim of our Graduate Nurse Program is to provide you with the opportunity to practice in a supportive environment that will facilitate your transition to the role of Registered Nurse and allow you to build upon your knowledge and skills in the delivery of quality patient care and personal development. 
 

We encourage you to make the most of the extensive opportunities available in our busy clinical areas, and care for patients with a range of clinical conditions. 
 

This excellent program with a comprehensive professional development component will provide an excellent foundation for future career advancement and has been specifically designed to provide all graduate nurses with ongoing clinical support by experienced nursing staff.

Positions Available

Between 105 - 110 positions available in 2009.

Intake Dates

Monday 12th January & Tuesday 27th January 2009
(You will be allocated an intake date based on your clinical rotations. Individual start dates may be considered when individual circumstances warrant.)

Key Components

·         Two x 6 month rotations

·         Preceptorship support on both rotations

·         Clinical Support Nurse

·         Supernumery days

·         Graduate Rostering Guidelines

·         Self rostering system in many clinical areas

·         Extensive support network

·         Comprehensive orientation program to the Health Service and clinical areas

·         GNP orientation and resource folder

·         Orientation manuals/learning packages/worksheets

·         Four Graduate Study Days you are paid to attend

·         Extensive in-service program including sessions for graduates only

·         Human Patient Simulator sessions

·         Generic and ward based competency programs, e.g. peritoneal dialysis

·         Training including IT, Move Smart and Fire & Safety and Emergency Codes

·         Regular performance development discussions to provide feedback

·         Opportunity to join committees

·         6 weeks annual leave.

·         Paid ADO (accrued day off) approximately once a month

·         Salary packaging and meal reimbursement available

·         Personal email account

·         Certificate upon completion

We do not offer an honours program, however we do offer a wide range of postgraduate programs following your graduate year.
