Motivate Your Mind...Enrol in Postgraduate Education...

Our
Philosophy
The St Vincent's Cardiothoracic Care Centre
provides a supportive and friendly learning
environment whereby postgraduate nursing
students are mentored and encouraged to develop
specialist knowledge and skills. In an
environment which facilitates multidisciplinary
teamwork, the Cardiac Course offers clinical
experience and education in the areas of
monitoring, assessment and management of complex
cardiac conditions. Clinical support is
maintained throughout the year by our
experienced cardiac nursing staff and dedicated
Clinical Educators.
The Cardiothoracic Care Centre
The Cardiothoracic Care Centre is a 42 bed
tertiary referral centre, which includes CCU,
cardiology and cardiothoracics. Patients
admitted to this unit undergo a variety of
cardiac interventions and surgical procedures
including Coronary Artery Bypass surgery,
thoracic surgery and pacemaker insertion. Nurses
will gain experience with complex technologies
such as temporary pacing, Intra Aortic Balloon
Pumps and non invasive ventilation. In addition
there is a focus on patient education about
various aspects of the management of chronic
heart failure and risk factor management.
The Cardiac Course
The Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing –
