Our
Philosophy
The St Vincent's Cancer &
Palliative Care Centre
fosters a supportive and

encouraged to develop
specialist knowledge and

which facilitates
multidisciplinary teamwork,
the Cancer & Palliative Care
Course offers clinical
experience and education in
the areas of oncological
emergencies, tumour streams,
stem cell transplantation,
chemotherapy/radiation
managementand
administration, pain
assessment & management. CVC
access devices, symptom
management, psychosocial
care and nursing care from
diagnosis through to
palliation. During the
course
clinical support is
maintained throughout the
year providing regular
shifts with clinical
educators who have extensive
emergency clinical and
teaching experience to aid
in facilitating the
transition to the high
acuity areas.
The Cancer & Palliative Care
Centre
St Vincent’s
Cancer & Palliative Care
Centre is a 20 bed ward to
which patients are admitted
for a variety of conditions
including leukaemia,
lymphoma, myeloma, primary
and metastatic tumor disease
and bone marrow
transplantation. Patients
are also admitted with
progressive diseases that
are not responsive to
curative treatment including
cancer and end stage organ
failure.
The Cancer &
Palliative
Care Course
The current diploma course
comprises 8 subjects and may
be taken over 1 year full
time commencing in February,
